resolutions update

So here’s the almost 2nd quarter update on my resolutions.

So I did manage to go 3 months (March, April, May) with no nonessential purchases. I did buy a few clothes, some for work and some for the funeral (they were needed though). I also spent some money on plants for the garden, that was a planned expense though and most of it was on a gift card. I also bought a new iPod after my old one died (I waited a month and I used the economic stimulus money for it). I didn’t get any yarn which was a big thing.

I didn’t get through the last month as clean as I’d hoped, and I’m not convinced I’ve broken myself of manic spending so I’m going to continue on with this little quest with some new “guidelines”. I had planned on rewarding myself with some yarn, but since I did get an iPod I have decided I can only get yarn for 1 project if it’s under $20, and I have to commit to starting the project right away and finishing within a month.

I also made a budget/purchase plan for all the yarn I need to xmas presents. I will be buying yarn for one xmas project each month and I will start/finish that project the next month.

I also decided if I got to August and my finances were in good order and I’d done well with spending I could purchase $50 (or less if I can’t afford $50 but can afford $30) worth of yarn for a “summer” project. Again must be started in August and completed in September. I’ll also continue to forgo magazines, make-up, clothes, anything except essentials and my reward(s) and the gift yarn.

I managed to get the garden in, I’m only needing to plant a few more plants that are still in pots and prepare and plant the new roses when they come. It’s getting really hot now so these projects will most likely take place on weekends though I may do some work after work next week when M is out of town.

I am getting back into exercise, but I’ll need at least 2 full weeks before I say I’m doing that for real.

I am back to knitting/crocheting almost every day and am starting to get back into picture taking mode.

I still haven’t cracked the writing resolution so I need to get moving on that for real.

I haven’t kept my personal goals (pets, car, name change) as well. Well, I’ve taken care of the pets well, but the car still needs maintenance and I’ve decided to make the name change an anniversary present (1st year is paper after all).
